They asked Bhise to make the documentary in Hindi so that they could understand what was being said. As an Indian-American filmmaker Bhise was able to produce the film with a small crew of people working around her home country in New Delhi, India. The conditions were harsh, and filming took place at all hours of the day and night since she could not afford expensive studio time for each interview. Bhise also faced cultural challenges working on the film. When it came to filming Arya and Aarya, Bhise had to ask the boys if they were willing to show their faces. She was not allowed by her crew of interns, production assistants and assistants an opportunity to face Aarya or Arya before asking them again later on. After completing her research on child brides, Bhise had a goal in mind for this documentary. It was a film that would expose the existence of child marriage in New Delhi and that would question why Indian society still tolerates this practice.
